Anyone For A Bid?

Feeling chatty and feeling speechless are extreme ends one can experience at a certain time of our lives. At this point, I am multi-tasking in the time of cramming. How ironic is the irony of still having the leisure of doing multi-tasking activities while meeting a deadline. It is like the title of "Love in the time of Cholera". Two ends still meet.

I have been reviewing for the upcoming Licensure Exams for Teachers (LET) this coming September. I had a hearty 3-month-preparation for the exam, but it only rang my bell a couple of days ago to focus on this important event that will happen in my life. Time is running, and the one-day exam is not a joke. I am pretty sure that this tag-of-war emotion is not only happening to me right now. Thousands of teachers across the Philippines who will take the LET may have different preparations for the big event. Some I know enrolled in a review center, while others like me is self-studying.

The good thing about self-studying is having your own time and pace without the hassel of going to a review center on a Sunday when it is so nice to sit back and relax with the family. The bad part about self-studying is the still yet the good thing that is in it. Since I had my own time and pace, I had the liesure of spending it any way I wanted it. You may say, "good thing that bell rang on you". Yes indeed, good thing that bell rang on me.

So, what is that bell that rang on me? That bell that rang on me is my willingness and fondness to teach children. The LET is my passport to be close to what is food to my soul and heart. Although I have been a Guidance Counselor for College students for sometime now, still that hunger and thirst to be connected in the molding of the hearts and minds of children is a calling not heard, but touched by the spirit of unconditional love.

Teaching is a noble task. So if one should ask, "Are teachers underpaid?", my answer is Yes. No amount of money can equate the heart of a teacher for their student.
